IMPORTANT!! How many KW ???

Hi....I want to know how many KW my 1990 XT600E has... I've been searching for a regulator/rectifier on German eBay and I found this:

Yamaha XT 600 E N 3UW 1990 1 27 PS, 20 kw
Yamaha XT 600 E H 3TB 1990 1 45 PS, 33 kw

How can I know how which one is mine?
My XT600E was imported from the US..........

My drivers license only allows me to ride a bike under 25KW although when I head back to the island where I live I can go and change it to "unlimited" KW

Help me out here...

how many KW

There are two ways to know it:

1st the easiest, read your bike documents, power should be written there.

If power is the higher value, surely you cannot have the underpowered one

if power is the lower value, maybe it's real, maybe previous owner modified it. You can easily know, taking down carb and verifying if one of the two joint is almost closed. If they are both open, you have the full power version.

Is it just a mod in the carbs?
If it is the lower value, how could I make it go to those 33kw??

If I do put it with 33kw , I should buy the 33kw reg/rectifier...how about the stator?:scooter:

yes, underpowered versions have closed joint and maybe carb has different jets. Once that you find closed joint, and replace them, you can compare carb jets with the number you find in service manuals. But unless you find it written in documents, your bike is NOT the underpowered one.

Regulator/rectifier, as written in your link, is the same for all of the bikes written in the list...

Cyberzar..

I remember when I took the airbox and the carbs out...I remember one of them being almost closed... I guess I'll have to check the carb needles when I get back to my island this summer....

Do you think that 8kw gap takes out alot of the power of the bike?

Thanks!

the answer is yes

YESSS it's a 50%+ power increase, it's not a small difference...it's another world.

in thid case you will have to:

1) change carb joints with opened ones

2) check needle code and position with standrd (33kw) model
primary 5d93 secundary 5x7b both of them should stay at middle (3rd) position

3) check jet number
130 primary 104 secundary

4) pilot jet 48
