How to remove the carburetor?

Hello,
it's certainly a question from a beginner, but I wonder why I can't remove the carburetor of my 3TB to clean it. I removed the saddle and the tank, I unscrewed the 4 fixations of the carburetor and the cables, and my technical book says to remove the carburetor by the right side of the bike, but it's very hard! I unscrewed the air box and pushed it back to have 1 or 2 cm more, so I could pull it out completly but even with this, I'm unable to take it out of the frame. How should I proceed?
Should I buy a bicycle?...

Thank you
Philippe

Just assume you have the model with the oil cooler on the left of the engine. Or, alternatively the XT600E which is even harder to remove the carbs from. This is impossible to explain in detail in writing but a good summary would be that you should use the flexibility in the air box and the inlet rubbers. Or, even better, remove the R/H side inlet rubber before removing the carb, this will avoid damage to this expensive item. Remember, when you put it back, smear the mating surface with some blue silicone as the O-ring solution does not prevent air leaking in.

Succes!

Hello Auke
thanks for your help. That's it, I have the 3TB model from 96, and if you don't move the air box to the back, and remove his right hand rubber, you need a hammer !
Bye
Philippe
