How small can you pack an XT660Z?!
 

Hi there,

Thinking oif shipping an XT660Z Tenere out to Kenya by air. Volume = £££!

I haven't got the bike yet but woulkd plan to drop the forks out and remove wheel(s), remove handlebars and take off the screen then stick it on the palatt

Has anyone tried this or got an idea of how compact I can get the bike? - bar sticking it in a crusher!

Is it a XT660Z, or a XTZ660.... I've seen lots of posts with confused model numbers, appologies if you know one fro the other!

The XT660Z (2008 ->); Th ebars come off no problem, and forget the screen, leave it alone. the whole front subframe is mounted th ethe frame with two bolts, remove these and you can invert the whole headlight/screen assembly and bolt it back in place.

You will need to remove the two plastic mountings that connect between the tank and the headlight assembly (part 4 in the linked drawing) by removing the two bolts at the side, then lifting the part from the tank (there are two locating pegs that go into the tank), take care not to loose the rubber washers.

Thanks - that's excellent. The bike's a 2009 XT660Z. aving owned the Xt600, XT600Z, XTZ750, XTZ660 and soon the XT660Z, I'm getting as Zzzz'd and XT'd dyslexic as everyone!
