Heart Failure

After kick starting my Tenere 1vj bike into life after it had been standing for some time..........the motor was running sweetily with a slight vibration on acceleration, I suspected the head bearing.:confused1:

Only to realise that it must have been something far more serious:nono: when the rear wheel locked on me. The motor immediately cut out and I could only manage to get it into neutral and 1st gear. :(

To my horror I notice that there were two slight cracks on the centre lower end casing, below the top end.

Could anybody give me some advice?.....Have anybody had a similar experience?.....and is there any chance of this motor being resussed?:helpsmilie:

I'd go and have a beer or two if I were you and leave it until next year..

It's either siezed (was there any oil in there?) or something's broken in the gearbox and locked it solid. If the crankcase has cracked (is that what you mean?) then the damage inside is unlikely to be minor. Your only option is to strip it and see what's let go. At the end of the day you may be looking at a used motor as the best fix as the cost of repair using new bits will be expensive and you'll have to get the cases welded.

Hi, sounds terminal. My advice, go and ask Jack Daniel what to do. Know what I mean. You ain`t gonna get any sense here at this time of year!!!!!!
But, seriously, this does sound pretty damned terminal. I wopuld think that, at least, you`re going to have to split the crankcases and have a look in the gearbox. Sounds like a big job to me.
Best wishes and Seasons Greetings to and yours, which ever God you may worship.

Let`s stop the fighting and all buy Bikes

Hey, Rob Chamberlain and Family

I thought as much.......thank God I've got another to bike to ride....so I don't have to slit my wrists yet...

I'm thinking I'll take on the xt as a project bike and see what happens.:eek2:

It's bloody great weather now.... and will sorely miss my mule.

Cheers for now and have a Good New Years!:scooter:

Hi.

Bad luck. Sounds like you are in for a serious overhaul. If you decide that it´s not worth the effort fixing it,would you be interrested in selling the bike or the engine?

Sorry Mate:nono:

I could never sell her in parts..........I've had her for a long time and done some good rides hoping to do some more. I have a f650 as well but they are two completely different rides. The Tenere is a classic, and enjoy her more in the rough.
