The xts have already upgraded the oil pump with the 90 and up motor. They also have a counter balancer that helps somewhat. The motor redlines at 7000 so high RPM is not an option. The piston mod and balancing of the crank are for people with access to the expertise and a bag full of money. More than I paid for the bike probably. I wonder what the weight difference is between a stock cast 95 mm piston and a 98 mm forged piston? Any of you guys across the pond have access to and 96mm 10:1 pistons or the like that us colonials do not?thumpthump

You could go with the 98mm, if you need to change piston again, you can install a new sleeve, and start over from 95mm and up.
As for compression, you can choose a lower compression piston, and have the cylinder head machined down to raise compression. Or you can go with the 11,5:1 piston and install an extra basegasket to reduce compression a bit. The 98mm piston should be somewhat identical in weight to a stocker. Less thinking, more action :thumbup1: I just installed a stock 96mm piston in mine, and cant stop wondering how fun it would have been with a "better" piston... |
