Handle bar clamps/riser for 28mm fatbars/twinwalls ?
 

I want to ditch the cheap crap handlebars and risers on my XT600E.

Trouble is, no one seems to make compatible 28mm (1&1/8) risers to accomodate some nice renthal twinwalls or fat bars.

Iv got renthal 28mm on my CRF450 which look great but the centres dont fit the XT.

Can anyone help here ?

Make them your self, just draw a sketch and take it to a machine shop or give to a friend that's a machinist. That's what I did to my V-Strom, worked perfect.

Hi, I'm in the same position in that I want to raise the bars a bit. What grade of aluminium did you use on the ones you had made?

Don't know if this is of any help. A friend got a set of one inch risers for a Yamaha XT. They were from www.dirtly.com, but he purchased them through ebay for $34.95. He has 7/8" bars so there was no problem with the fit, but seeing the 28mm/1.1", obviously incompatible with the risers he purchased. You may want to check the said website, if you haven't already, to see if there are other risers compatible with your bars.

I used 6061 bar stock to make the risers, and used the OEM cap. Another tip, the after market risers have a halfmoon made in them to fit where the OEM handlebars were placed. This isn't necessary, I left them off mine to save work or cut cost. On my trip to TDF, I rode to the Salar in Bolivia, these are some of the roughest rodes you'll ever exsperince, the risers never developed a crack!
BTW, make sure you leave a .030/.040 space between the cap and riser on the side nearest the rider. You need this for the cap to clamp on the handlebar.

These will raise the height of the bar but i need clamps which will accomodate 28mm diameter bars :(

I'll give it a go. I have an old bench lathe and I'm in the process of learning how to use it. Sounds like a great project to combine two of my favourite activities.

They do fit 28mm! They are convertors for fitting 28mm bars onto 7/8" risers. The site is possibly a bit misleading as it loks like they are just bar risers on first reading.
I had a set of fat bars on a KX250 I had about 6yrs ago using this type of adaptor and they worked a treat. Never had an issue despite the 2 years of intensive crash testing I did on them :rolleyes2:. I think they were made by acerbis but it was a while ago so I could be mistaken.

I have just spoken to them, these do convert from 7/8" to 28mm (is that 1 1/8") as well as raise by 3/4"
