Front springs.

Hi !
Have a question about replacing springs in my fork, I will like to put in progressiv springs.
Have seen 2 kind on E-Bay, which is the best ? Price difference is not so big.
I`m +100 kilo so I feel the suspension in the front is kind of spongy.

I liked my Wilbers, also bought the rear shock.

I've read some time ago and somewhere (maybe even here) that xt's have progressive springs "by default". but not sure, maybe it was about some sub-models or years.
in fact, my '02 has progressive ones.
what do you think about different oil?

Jens Eskildsen 8 Feb 2018 09:14

Yes, Im pretty sure atleast the never models have progressive springs. The aftermarked is just a bit stiffer.

Its pretty common to add heavier weight oil, some also add more oil.

I go the other way, as I feel the forks get to harsh by doing that, and wont use the full travel length. I've used mine for some pretty serious offroad, but it shouldnt matter too much when riding mostly street and gravel.

I've fitted forks from a xtz660, but before that I had wilbers springs, 2,5w-5w oil, with an oilheight of 18cm, and I still didnt bottom out. Rebound was a bit too much in the summer, but the damping was much better.

So lots of different options and oppinions, hope you will update the thread with your experiences afterwards :D
