front mudguard.

Hi, has anyone got a front mudguard for a 1986 IVJ? Can't find one anywhere.:helpsmilie:I'm in York u.k by the way.

Why not get a UFO or Polisport one?

They are good value for money and come in many different styles.

Same problem I had. Buy one for something else and if necessary cut it down at the back.

Mine came from some Honda off-roader and fitted after a bit of persuasion, shame about the colour though !

Whenever I got a sniff of the XT part the price was a bit extortionate and it was going to break when I next fell off on the rough stuff anyway.

How is the trip prep going Tom ?

Regards,

Richard

mudguard

Cheers, I was looking for an original as my bike cuts out in the rain. Thought this might be down to the guard not being long enough at the back.

A soaking from the front tyre certainly won't help, but your ignition system should be able to cope with a bit of rain. As far as I can tell, the lead and cap on mine haven't been replaced in 14 years, but it runs faultlessly even in heavy rain, with a standard front mudguard. Have you checked your plug cap and HT lead? Try running the engine after dark and looking for blue lights down there, or spray the lead and cap with WD40 and see if it improves. If so, new lead and cap time. Cheap fix.

my xt is supermoto'd and i use the accerbis sm fender they are shorter in the front and rear but are a lot more rigid than stock
a new plug cap should sort the cutting out in the wet
