Fork seal dimensions - Tenere 1990 3AJ
 

Hi all
I am currently in Trujillo, Peru with a leaky fork seal. I doubt I will be able to get a Yamaha replacement and wondered if anyone knows the dimensions of the fork seal and the dust seal for a 1990 3AJ Tenere.

With any luck there could be a suitable seal available for a different motorbike that will fit, or as a last resort perhaps I will be able to get a replacement from a hydraulic parts supplier.

I would rather not remove the old seal to measure it in case I can't find a replacement and disturbing it might make the leak worse.

Xt600e dj02: 41x53x8/9,5 ( i thin both 8, and 9,5mm fits)
Xt600 3tb: 41x53x10.5 (this can be cut down to use in a xt600e, i did)

I couldn't get a fork seal that was 41 x 53 x 10.5. So, the seal shop ground down a 41 x 54 x 11 seal, but this leaked badly when fitted.

I then noticed that the one that had been removed had 41 x 54 x 11 stamped on it. (Not sure if this is an original Yamaha part, or something a previous owner had fitted.)

So we fitted an unmodifed seal (41 x 54 x 11) and this seems to be holding the oil (so far, fingers crossed!)
