flickering speedo

hello all, after changing out the front wheel bearings on my xtz660 ive noticed that my speedo has started to fluctuate wildly when travelling ,i used some grease on the speedo mechanism when i changed out the bearings...and am wondering if this is a common problem and is there a cure...thanks , phil.

Afaik this is because the cable gets stuck at some point and then shoots loose giving the speedo [or tacho] a swing, causing tripping up and down. The getting stuck can also be at the bearing in the meter. Try lubricating both cable and bearing.
