Engine protection bars Tenere

I'm looking for the tubular type of engine case protection bars for a Tenere if anybody can help.

Hi there - the only bit of advice I can give you is don't buy the Motad ones.
I have had 3 sets of these bars develop cracks at the welds and once along the pipe seam. In fairness to Motad they replaced them each time free of charge but when the third set cracked after six months I gave up on them.

Tony R. was looking at a set of 5 star bars from Germany, they might be better - any news Tony ?

Hi,

I have the five Star bars on my 3AJ. They fit well, but they are designed as tank-protection more then engine protection. And you have to make some adjustments to connent the center connection between the left and right side to the centre frame tube. If you dont they will probably do more harm to the tank then without the bars in case of a crash.
For engineprotection I think a decent engineplate or the small enginebars standard on some XT's are more use.
I mainly put them on to carry jerrycans on desert trips then to really protect the engine or tank.

Hi,
Two questions
where can these bars be sourced from to the UK?
Will they fit a 1VJ?

Thanks

email ernie at overland-solutions. He made me a set for my 1VJ tenere and they're great. His worl is excellent and he can make whatever you want, but be warned.... his work is popular so may ahve to wait a bit. www.overland-solutions.co.uk

cheers,

Also Hepco & Becker makes crashbars for Ténérés. Ones for 3AJ fit well and so far no cracks or other unexpected.

Bought mine from a local (Finnish) H&B importer; there should be one in UK also!

Hi futronix - I have an XTZ660 and got my engine crashbars from Bikebiz in Parramatta. It might be worth checking whether they have ones specific to your bike or whether the XTZ ones can be adapted.

Good luck
