doing wheelies...

ok, i know this is probably a dumb question but i will ask anyway.
how bad is it for my bike to do wheel stands ie, wheelies or whatever you want to call them. i have developed a nasty habit of taking off from the traffic lightes on my rear wheel. i can imagine all this foolishness is knocking valuable life span of my xtz660 motor...but damn sometimes you just gotta let one rip....thanks ,phil .

If you're dipping the clutch to wheelie in second gear, then you'll shorten the clutch life.

The other thing to consider is head bearings. Coming down hard can knacker the bearings & in extreme cases, the bottom of the headstock can become oval in shape. This means that when you replace the bearings, the lower will be difficult or impossible to seat accurately.

Low speed wheelies tend to land more heavily whilst those at a higher speed seem to land more gently IMO?

The best bike for wheelies is one that you don't own............. http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif
