just fitted my newly rebuilt '89 xt600 3aj engine which stated first time.Great except that there was oil pouring out of the gearbox output shaft oil seal. The seal is a genuine part from a good supplier and appears to be the correct size.Any help i can get with this would be greatly appreciated.Thanks guys.:(

Did it come out of a little plastic bag with 'Yamaha' on it?

The original, from Yamaha, has little 'ribs' on the lip that touches the shaft, that make the seal actually pump the oil back into the engine. It is not very expensive and worth to have a few with you when travelling.

Are you sure that the seal was installed correctly - it's outer face flush with the engine casing - no damages to it?

can't remember if the bag had Yamaha on it or not. The seal however , when fitted was not flush with the casing. It was about 50mm or so below it. I've just ordered another from a Yamaha supplier. Cheers for the help aukeboss. Be lucky:thumbup1:
