difference between 86 & 89 tenere
 

do you know if there's a difference between a 1986 and 1989 bike. i saw an 89 bike on the road recently, it had a big tank and looked good, but it
didn't look as big or as solid as the 86 models i have seen. is it just my imagination or is there a discernable difference?

leaving beside the design (these differences are obvious) there are significant differences regarding the engine:
3AJ has:
- advanced/better lubrication system with bigger oil pump
- different primary ratio / gearbox / sprocket / secondary ratio
- no kickstarter (but can be remounted)
- cylinder with bigger cooling rips (code 3AJ)
- disc brake rear (which is not as good as the drum brake in 1VJ)
