Cutting up some 3AJ decals, Blue
 

Unable to find any for sale, I'm having some tank stickers cut out of vinal by this lot: Decals & Stickers - Graphics & Signs - Based in the UK with customers worldwide He's making them up from the .pdf files I got from Raul on here. It's the design for the '89 3AJ model in blue.

Just wondering if:
1. Anyone fancies in? Getting a few sets done will keep the price down for all of us (quote at the moment:£35 for one set)
2. Does anyone have any pictures of original decals that I could use for colour matching - idealy on the bike? Some pics in nice neutral light would be great. The bloke's sending me some colour samples at the moment.

The guy at the decal place sent me a couple of bits of vinyl to see the colours. I spent a (not unplesent) half hour or so cruising the internet to get a good range of colours, then realised that as there are no original decals on the bike anyway, just getting shades that work together should be good enough. Cheers for the offer though, Brian.

Thanks for the link, Bruken. I'd spotted that one but they don't cover the 3AJ. The only ones I could find that were right were on an italian website for silly money (>£100!).

Flat out - I am expecting them to arrive tomorrow. £35 including delivery. I'll let you know how they turn out, but it may be a while as I need to get the tank painted first and have a competing pushbike project. They are the yellow-and-blue decals - the same design as the (cracking) pic in the '3AJ modifications' thred on this board.

I haven't actually ordered any yet, but I recently came across this German site somehow when looking for decals for my 1VJ. The guy responded promptly to an email asking about stock and payment (Paypal is ok), and I've just been waiting until a couple of mates make their minds up so I can split the 8 Euro postage charge to UK with them.

It took a while, but I got them all on in the end! I got the decals as .pdf files from Raul on this forum and got the vinyl cut by the guy in the link in the original post. If you'd like the .pdf file, feel free to give me a pm!

You can either get all the colours printed on one sticker, or a set of stickers for each colour to be aligned on the tank. I went for this option, as the result fades less, lasts longer and was quicker to produce (though longer to stick on!). I recommend the sticker guy. He was really good, sending me swatches to check the colour and compatibility of the vinyl with the paint/laquer. Plus, they cost ~£35, compared to the ~£100 for an official set.

Built up the decals one colour at a time. The stickers have a paper backing, so within a colour, everything is aligned. First blue:

Then got the tank professionally lacquered to seal it in, make it fuel-proof and nice and shiny:

Then put in back on the bike, gave it a quick polish, and admired it in the sun. Ahhhh:

How did you go with the side panel graphics? there is no template for them i had to have mine made up special.

Hi friends, sorry if im late... have full set of stickers available for 1VJ and 3AJ as those bikes where built here in Brasil, specially here at Yamaha facotry in Manaus where im leaving now. Would be pleased to help.
By the way, im restoring a 1VJ and looking for a blue (new or used) front mudgurad as the the ´brasilian´ model is totally different from the original one. shall i place a new thread on both above subjects.
