Connecting Electrical Gadgets

Could anyone please tell me what the voltage and current should be at the mains switch and also the regulator/rectifier when the bike is running?
By how much can one expect the current to fluctuate?

I am looking at wiring on a female cigarette lighter socket at the mains.
Then, if necessary, plugging in a converter so that I can run my GPS, minidisc and a camp light.

Cheers
Geoff

it is more than enough to operate these things, no problem.
what type of gps do you have?
cigarette lighter socket and plug are very space-consuming.
there are better solutions.

so you should use a switching regulator with 3V output. the original garmin one (and everything else what is on the market like phone chargers etc.) is designed for in-car use and therefore not waterproof. also it doesn't have over-voltage protection.
i'm just on the way to design a switching regulator in a waterproof housing with added overvoltage protection.
i can send a pic when it's ready.
