con rod sideways play?
 

got the head off my 1vj tenere today and i was wondering if there should be any side to side rocking of the con rod? mine rocks about 1mm when measured at the small end. is this a sighn of big end bearing wear? cheers. karl.

I have about the same or maybe more but I have not measured it yet but the book say,s 0.8 mm max but I,m not going to worry about it too much as it will be held in place by the gudgeon pin and thats a good fit too so hope t will be ok...

Just checked the manual and you can have 0.8 mm to 2mm free play so we are both good....:D

Yeb, some sideways play is fine.

sounds promising. just wanted to make clear, im talking about rocking, not sliding along the crank. does this still mean were ok? cheers folks. karl.
