cogged gas filter after firsttime "playriding"?

I had some fun today on the gravel road that goes up to our house(uphill). I was just sliding carefully around up the road:innocent: and noticed that the weel can go up easy in uphills if you go slow and then bomb it a bit. Ive never tried this before so i started some wheel-lifting "practice" a couple times..maybe 10..i didnt do a real wheelie i just lifted and it fell down again, and this naturally makes the gasoline go around in the tank.. after a while suddenly the engine started to bog like it didnt get enough gas.. My engine has never done this before its always been smooth but ive never ridden like thise before either so..

Could it be that since this was the first time i did this, stuff in the gas tank would move around and bog up the gas filter? If theres a gas filter in the xt600? I hope this is the problem and that the gasoline filter is in the full/res
"switch"

Extra info: bike is xt600e 2001
I tested it today,it starts as easy as ever before but it ran like 2 minutes, on low rpm below 2k it runs..if I try to increase the rpm it stutters and pops in the exhaust before it stops. :/

I took off the the fuel hose on the carburator end to check the fuel flow from the gas tank and it flows pretty hard,so now im worried theres something wrong in the carburator.
Anyone have an idea?

The stuttering on higher rpm then idling is removed when i put on the choke. When the choke is on the gas is responding very nicely, i think even better then normally without choke..

Sounds like something blocking the main jet. Carb off and clean?

Ill try it today. Im a bit scared of taking off the carbs, do you have to tweak the 2 carbs if you just take it out and clean it? Or is the settings kept?

You've disturbed some muck in the tank which is now clogging the main jet. It can now flow less fuel, so it bogs down over x,000 revs. What you say about the choke clinches it - choking it means less air, and less air + less fuel = more normal mixture. No way out but to take off the carbs and clean out.

I drained the carburator with the drain screw and let some fuel flow through with the fuel cog opened. I also had some anticondense in the fuel. I started it and it was still not wanting rpm but then suddenly after trying to give gas a couple of times it woke up :o and back to normal again now. Must have been a tiny thing blocking and suddenly it moved, or maybe the drain helped or the anticondense.. Atleast now it works and my trip on friday-sunday is saved.

I will be getting a carb cleanout though after the trip, if i survive it without this problem returning, its tarmac roads/cruising only so should not be disturbing any more muck in the tank.

It's amazing how many problems a tiny piece of dirt can cause!

Looks like you have sorted it.
