clutch plates please help!

recently got a tenere 600,89 or 90 not sure its a field bike i,m trying to get back on road.Anyway needs new clutch plates, set of cr250 plates in it. Have new plates and 2 are different from the rest,do these 2 go on first or last or one either end?

Hi, don't have my manual with me but from memory there are 2 plates with a bigger inner diameter and 6 with a smaller inner diameter. One of them goes on as the second friction plate (ie from the inner part of the clutch basket - friction plate, steel plate, special friction plate) also there is a ring of spring steel that goes on with the special friction plate. The spring sits in the space left by the larger inner diameter. Keep alternating the friction plates and steel plates then the second special friction plate goes on last. The outer part of the clutch basket goes on with the arrow lined up with a hole drilled in one of the fingers of the inner basket, add the pressure springs then bolts (which are torqued at 8Nm).
Hope that helps, Dave

Manuals

Clymer makes one that covers xt600 & TT600 that is close enough for most stuff. Doesn't cover stuff like electric start etc. Also watch eBay for yamaha manuals.
Regards,
Dave
