CDI and Relay ...
Hello,
My electronics knowledge is basics so here are the problems I rebuilt my Xt 600 e 1998...Found a loom which seems to come from a 1999. The relay connector from the loom is a 3 pin with a positive wire ?but the 1998 relay has 2 pin only to the switch And I have no connector between the relay 4 pin I need to get and the loom so need to work on that and plug the wires on the right pin onto the relay. Then I guess the10 amp fuse is now located on the relay itself as i cant see it elsewhwere on the loom. Finally i wonder if the CDI from a 1998 bike will work with later loom 1999 onward even if it plug perfectly... Photo may be easier....but dont have the bike now...Hope this was clear. Thanks |
first of all, it's a TCI, not CDI in those model years.
doesnt sound a common mod to switch looms, so doubt if youll get an immediate answer, best download both wiring diagrams and have someone into electronics figure out the logic. never seen a fuse inside a relay. and a 2 pin relay doesnt sound like a relay.... are you surre it's not the trun signal blinker unit? |
Hi,
Ok so say it s aTCI. Well the loom match all connector. I already plug tbe switch relay and shortcut the sidestand switch no problem The previous relay has a 2 pin connector to the loom and 1 for the positive and 1 forthe ground. The new relay has indeed a fuse on it. With 4 Pin then 2 more if you consider the positive to the battery and the one wire to the starter. Anyother answer from someone who know the XT? Thanks |
well, have fun checking these out, maybe you'll find an answer
