Carburettor overhaul
Hi,
I have a 1991 xt600e, 3wr model. The carburettor is leaking fuel from the float chamber gasket. I would like to overhaul the carby whilst it is off the bike. Is it possible to get a carburettor overhaul kit? Or will i have to buy all parts, gaskets, needle and seat seperately from a yamaha dealer? Does any one out there have a second hand float bowl? As it also leaks from the drain screw. I can't tighten or remove the screw as the head is damaged. I am not in any rush to do this job, so I don't mind getting parts from overseas (I am in Sydney). Any help appreciated, Paul Futcher. |
Paul,
dont know bout overhaul kits, but have you looked on ebay for spare parts? if the bowl is leaking from the screw, if you can get a spare screw, put some plumbers tape around it before threading it back in...i do this with my brake caliper bleed bolts and it stops them leaking or allowing air in. good luck finding the parts. |
I think KEDO - Performance Products has a carb repair kit.

Thanks Jens, just ordered a carby overhaul kit from Kedo. 18.50 euros. Now if any one can sell me a second hand float bowl I will be sorted (and less likely to catch fire!).
Cheers, Paul. |
