I wouldn't repair another one after the last time I did mine. I used an adhesive I was told would be fine mixed with fuel and heat but it wasn't. After about 100 miles the glue had mixed with petrol and coated the valve stems. They then stuck down in the oil seals holding the valves open and contacted with the piston. :eek3:
The damage wasn't catastrophic but it could have been so I'd consider it a false economy.

On a brighter note - My 1970 Trumpet has a single carb with a bell mouth fitted. I had some decent MX air filter foam which I cut and fixed inside the bell mouth, using wire to hold it against the mesh.
A few week later I had to take the carb off - and upon undoing the bell mouth, I noticed the foam was GONE :oops2:
The engine had EATEN it... not a sign of it :confused1: No ill effect though :thumbup1: |
