Carb Removal, Cleaning(ish) and Not Starting

I removed the carbs because they were covered in schmaltz. Scrubbed the whole assembly with carb cleaner and a copper brush. Replaced the float assembly gasket and reassembled the unit. Replaced the SOB and tried to turn her over. The bowl fills full of fuel but the dang thing wont fire up like it always does.

Any pointers?

Also I scrubbed some of the really bad stuff in paint thinner just on the outside if that could have screwed anything up

The whole assembly including rubber pieces and all?
Or just the jets

excuse the ignorance.

Open up and clean the jets, remove the filter inside and clean, check gasket.

Opened and cleaned again replaced a gasket, sprayed the jets, she fired right up. No more popping or backfire when turned off like its lean. Seems to have fixed all of my problems :)
