bar raiser

I know many of you raised the steering on your XT, but where did you buy the raisers from? I have checked Touratech and they have different 30mm raisers but not specifically for XT600 though they say it would fit on 7/8" bar and if I measure the length between the centers first to make sure.

Anyone know what the original bar on xt600e'2001 is? 7/8" ?

ill answer myself, will check the diameter first though before buying even they say its for xt600.
HANDLE BAR RISERS YAMAHA XT 600 30mm Rise Black - eBay (item 400095721597 end time Feb-04-10 13:19:46 PST)

they are all stock 7/8"

Aftermarket handlebars like ProTaper are the ones that use fatbars (1-1/8")

btw, why the need for the bar raisers?
I used to have a 2002 Yamaha DT125R that I passed on to my younger brother and I used to have the stock height handlebars....

After that, he changed it to one of those fatbars and had to put bar raisers (7/8 to 1-1/8 convertion) and that messed up the whole riding stability...

Now I'm even scared to drive that thing as the wheel seems to just want to slide away and throw me to the ground...

Oh, not good :s
Maybe it was because of conversion from small to bigger bar in the risers?

Everywhere I read that people use bar raisers and all new enduros like ktm adventure etc..and yamaha xt660z has parts available for raising the bar.

I was just going to raise the original bar, because sometimes i like to stand riding and today when i do that I control the gas with my fingertips :p Since im 184cm tall its a bit low, even only 1-2cm would do good.

Hi!

The risers look exactly like the ones on the link you put here but instead for 7/8" bars it was for a 1-1/8" bars...

Why not consider just on having a new handlebar with another bend?

maybe the CR high bend would be enough for you and I think it would look "cleaner" without the raisers...

anyway, it's just a thought...

yes they are 7/8 " bars as standard.
I had them on my 2002 xt and replaced them with renthal bars and bought some bars risers for riding.
When you are riding standing up it gives you so much more balance as you can weight the pegs too.
Anther bonus is the yammy bars are made of chocolate so when its dropped you end up with badly mishapen bars but with the stiffer (oooeeerr) renthals all that gets bent are the bars support bolts which are ruber mounted and all you have to do is give them a twist and everything is straight again....I also fitted wider pegs from e bay and thay help in the comfort stakes too....

Do you remember how many mm higher it was rised and if the cables had enough slack? I took alook today and the throttle cables seems pretty tight but its extremely cold outside so I didnt try to pull the cables much.

Were the footpegs nice? I wonder how height adjustable footpegs would be, 1cm down on the footpegs and 3cm up on the bars would be nice.

kenymact 11 Feb 2010 05:13

Yeah ..raised them 30 mm and my pegs are wider and more comfortable for standing which I now do alot on the more technical rides and especially riverbeds...I hate riverbeds!

I've riased my '03 with 40mm, stock cables and no hazzle. Theres room for more if someone would want to.

Ok good to hear, I ordered some Standard types from touratech today, raises 35mm and for 7/8" bars.

Touratech Webshop

I did some measuring yesterday and it should fit, 32mm between center holes.
