91 XT600 Rear Suspension Mod

G'day folks,

I just finished a relatively simple rear suspension mod that gave me about 60mm at the rear of the swing arm.

I knocked up an extension piece that fits to the top of the original rear shock, I got most of my info from other post on this site that dudes have gone to a deal of great effort to post http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...ension-60728-5 thanks guys.

The design that was posted by others was the basis of design although it had to be tweaked around the top to fit my frame, I also had to remove a section of a bracket thing from the frame that got in the way of a new bolt fixing, didn't like doing it but I am pretty sure it wasn't doing much anyways, you will know which one I am talking about if/when you come across it, have a reciprocating saw with a metal blade on stand by, also spray prime,r and some spray enamel to protect.

Actually correction on the year in the subject...it is a 92.

Have you noticed much difference in the handling of your bike? Is the steering heavier, how about turn in when cornering at speed?
I raised mine a bit at the rear but ended up lowering the front forks to return my bikes road handling.( I was struggling to get it round corners!)

It has changed the dynamics of the bike considerably, although the changes suit me perfectly, I am 100kg's so the bike sags a fair bit from my weight. I have only ridden about 100km's since raising the rear (thanks to have three little ones) all of which was on the road and i was pretty happy with how it sits...I will let you know when I get it off road...
