87 XT600 speedo light/ headlight issue
 

Right, so I've had my XT600 for a few months now and I need to get it riding at night for my job. So this is where my issue comes in, when I start my bike it starts up in about 3 kicks, but all the lights on my speedo barely even light up for me to see. Also the headlight is extremely dim, basically it is useless, and when I pull my brake lever in just a bit all the lights get brighter for a bit and then go dark again. So I'm thinking this is a wiring issue, I haven't got a clue though. Could it possibly be the stator, or rectifier?
