86 XT600 Speedo wanted
 

Hello there,

:helpsmilie: I was wondering if anyone had (and wanted to sell) or know where I could lay my hands on a working speedo for my 1986 XT600.... My one works ie tells me how fast I am going, but has stopped counting the miles, a pain when I have to know how many miles I have done B4 running out of fuel, of which I have done, pushing a bike to the petrol station is not my idea of a good bike ride!! ha ha ha I am sure you all know what I mean.
My bike is still not running at the mo so in no massive rush for the speedo, but would be nice to get something on the bike fixed and in working order :D

What about the reserve on the fuel tap? In theory, you should never have to push the bike to a petrol station if there's one within about 30 miles of going onto reserve. Or am I missing something?

gotta agree with richard on that one, plus fast miles or slow miles will have a big difference on how far between fill ups. :innocent:
aswell as the reserve on the tap there is also that big hole in the top of the tank that you can look into and see how much fuel is in there too :rolleyes2: :thumbup1:

Thank you all for your helpful advice on looking inside the petrol tank....... Funny I never thought of that:clap:.
I was on reserve, had just got my bike on the road and hadn't put any extra fuel in B4 i went out on the road...... I am sure it wont happen again now I know what to look out for!!:D

if getting the speedo from yamalama does'nt work out i think i've got one at the back of the workshop somewhere :thumbup1:

Can i persuade you to part with your knackered one? I'm assuming it's a small rectangualr one - i'm building up a little stock of dead ones to have a go at fixing them...
