84 xt 600 main switch

I am having an issue with my ignition switch and want to check to make sure that it is the issue with my no spark. I looked in the manual and shows for the "on" position the Red, Black, Blue and Blue/Red wires to be connected and "off" position the Black/White and Black to be connected. The issue I am having is that on my switch there is Red, Brown, Blue/Red, Black and Black/White.

The manual I have is for the XT600zs. I'm not sure what exact year and model the manual covers so that may be my issue. Any help would be great.

According to my wiring diagram...

http://www.bandit127.com/images/Ign%20Sw.gif

B = Black
W = White
R = Red
Br = Brown
L= Blue

It's a poor quality JPG but I will send the diagram in a PM if I can work out how...

From what I can see, the connection B/W-B pulls a part of the CDI to earth (B is earth) and stops ignition unless the switch is ON. The RUN switch is wired the same way and in parallel to the ignition switch, so you need to check that too.

The R, L, Br and L/R all seem to go to lights etc.

So, you should have an open circuit between B-B/W on both the ignition and run switches for ignition to work.

Thank you. That was more or less the information I was looking for. So for lights I need R, L, BR and L/R connected. Which blue is not there so skip that. And my I/O switch would be B and B/W, open for "On" and closed for "Off".

Blue is there - it's L. So L/R is Blue/Red.

Blue is not there. It shows it in the the diagram but it is not in my harness for the main switch. There is a spot for it but the pin is not there. Either way L-Blue only goes to speedo light, tach light and light switch.
