4PT Subframe
Hey Everyone! My Question is about the 4PT XT. Does the rear subframe need to be braced if you remove the standard exhaust and replace with an aftermarket one. My aftermarket exhaust has got cracks and breaks all over, and my mechanic rekons the subframe is flexing. If it needs bracing, how is that done?

Post 95 shouldn't need it, the frame is build differently, so the exhasut is nolonger a "part" of the frame.
*edit* For better understading :) |
Please confirm, post 95 should or should'nt need it?

sorry, bikes from 1995 an onward does not require addition frame fabrication, as the exhasut no longer is a part of the frame.
So if you can find some pictures. The post 95 has a piece of frame from around the right footpeg, and up backwards. Earlier bikes does not. Think this is right: Old type: Googles billedresultat for http://www.justdirtbikes.com.au/Yamaha%20XT%20600%201983%20-%201990.JPG New type: Googles billedresultat for http://www.costarica-moto.com/04-bilder-main/motos-xt.jpg Old type: Googles billedresultat for http://www.tenere.dk/off-road-revy/grafik/Yamaha-XT600E-3TB-90nr2.jpg New type: Googles billedresultat for http://www.touringted.com/_gallery_/d/88-2/XT600E+017+_Large_.jpg |
I can comfirm the 1995 onwards has a very strong beefy subframe !!
I tried really hard to break mine and it just wouldnt breake or bend |
Thanks guys, thats a load off my mind. I was looking yesterday on how to brace it, and it would be difficult. Better just leave it then:clap:
