3AJ regulator / rectifier
 

I need to order a new voltage rectifier for my 3AJ but am having difficulties because the unfinned one like the one on the bike (often sold as RR08) seems to be out of stock wherever i look. The finned one (often sold as RR98) looks like it has different connectors and fittings. It is presumeably a much better bit of kit but has anyone any experience of fitting one to a 3AJ ?

The finned ones are fine, I bought a cheapo from eBay years ago, still running fine. Same connectors block connector with 4 pins.

Just be warned, i have heard of the "cheapo" IE Chinese ones going up in smoke, impossible to tell which are good copies & which are the real junk ones, its just a gamble i`m afraid.

Kedo sell the ones you are looking for, replicas not OEM but OEM cost double that.

Yamaha still sell them although pricey....part number 47X-81960-A3. I always put thermal paste on the base of voltage regs on all my bikes. Really helps in drawing the heat away from them, which is usually what kills them.
