2kf help!
 

hi folks, im new to yamaha thumpers and know sod all about them.having just aquired a 1997 2kf i would like a bit of info about them, to help me decide if i will renovate or break!.1st of all i have a crack in the crankcase (quite small but leaks oil) has anyone had any success in welding these? or can anyone tell me what crankcases from other models will fit, as there are a few diffeent types on ebay.also my clutch is slipping, do all models share the same plates?.also i need a new silencer..they seem very expensive...is there one from anyother bike that fits with a little tweaking?..i am an engineer so a bit of fabrication is no problem.lastly the spoke seats on the rear rim are splitting..willl a rear wheel of any other model fit? or has anyone any experience of the rims available on ebay? will a 2.15 width be ok rather than a 2.5?.any help would be great as i am unsure if i will save or break her..is it worth spending the cash??/...regards john

On my '02 bike i have a silencer from the previous frame design i.e. where the silencer formed part of the frame (pre-94?). It fits perfectly and has a tone halfway between the std can and a quiet race can - just nice...
