2003 Yamaha TT600R rear wheel swap
Hello,
Long story short)) I bought TT600R and on the rear wheel one spoke is broken. Yamaha officially dont make spokes for my wheel anymore. So, I think about swap my rear wheel to something else what is similar. Maybe old WR450F or YZ. Here’s the question! Maybe someone already made swap like this. What kinda wheel can take place instead of mine original? Any suggestions are welcome! really need help! cheers to all |
That's FAR more difficult than you think - usually. You MAY find another wheel that fits because it's used on other Yamaha's, but not as easy as you think.
It's MUCH MUCH easier to either get a spoke replacement made, along with a few spares, or find an old TT600R wheel and use it for spare spokes. Good bike shops will know where to get spokes made locally, or can do it themselves. There are places that will make a whole custom spoke set, heavier duty, chrome, whatever you want. Buchanan's in the USA is one, and I'm sure they can supply a few replacements, and there are many others: https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=cus...=v320-1&ia=web |

There’s usually TWO different spokes, with different angles for inner spikes and outer spokes. Could that be the issue? Are they the right length?

a bit late into this, but as someone whos done A LOT of wheel swaps in my vintage racing days, i can tell you that there is a lot more involved other than the wheel centering spacers.... sprocket to center line spacing, disc to center line spacing, not to mention finding sprocket and discs of the right size for the 600 but with the 450 mounting pattern....
plenty of specialized suppliers will do spokes to measure where are you located? not a hint in your signature |
Hi another option would be fitting a rear wheel from the later model TT600RE ,which had the electric start and came with a cush drive rear wheel as did the earlier tt600e bellgarda and i believe the tt600 s ,hope this helps ,Steve
