1998 Yamaha xt600 3tb stuttering issues
 

Hi all, I'm new to this forum so let me explain my past a little. About 2 years ago I bought a xt600, it was in great condition but has its little fiddly problems which then I resolved by changing the stator, coil, ignition box and spark plug and lead. Most recently, I noticed that my bike would start to choke up at about 125 kph and it was particles in the carburettor that were choking if up, I refurbished the carburettor completely and now the bike is running perfect on idle. Let me explain, when I am using the bike it seemed to cut out whenever it wants as if there is a bad connection somewhere or an air leak but it cuts out and continues to run but always cutting out for a quick second and then it's straight aWay fine, it does it whenever it wants. I have has the wiring all checked out and I've changed the coil and checked for any loose parts, everything is perfect but the bike still continues to do this. the bike is running lean. Could this cause this problem ? Can anyone please help.

If you can run it with the choke partially pulled out to see if the lean condition helps at all . If it's real lean it's possible that could cause the miss , but it probably isn't the issue. I'd try running the choke or richening up the jetting proper to eliminate lean running. Another guy had his late model XT doing this last year or more but I can't remember who and what resolved it.

Hi some bikes have a problem with the side stand switch
could be the stand is bouncing about while you are riding and activating the switch or the switch is faulty
You could try bypassing the switch
