1992 xt600e
hi, a couple of weeks ago i got my self a 1992 XT 600e to one day use the engine and loom to put in my 34L, but for now have to use it to rely on.
4 days after getting it i pranged it :( (chucking down with rain, car parked on duel carriage way with no lights, not a good combo). amazingly the only major damage was the flywheel/alternator cover got badly beaten up (beyond welding), and i'm finding it very hard to find a replacement, i've just found one on ebay which is claiming to be from a 1990 but it looks more like a 1VJ, i was just wondering if anyone knew if this cover would fit or not ? i'm in a bit of a desperate situation so any info would be very much appreciated. cheers, josh. |

If its a 1992 it should look like this, 1VJ & 3AJ are the same but they was all painted black not silver, this only applies to the early 600E`s then they changed the cover design on later E`s. http://databikes.com/imgs/a/c/g/f/t/...1992_5_lgw.jpg Mezo. |
Which country your in will make difference in which years fit. If in the US, then there is only 2 covers, kickers('84-'89) or e-starts('90-'95). Should be any 3AJ's or 1VJ's to worry about. The 1VJ's are all kicker models over here , they have bosses for the starte mounts but not tapped and the left engine case is the older style with no boss for the starter idler gear, which sucks because they could then be made into e-starts otherwise fairly easy.

ah, thats the cover ive found on ebay, he was breaking the whole bike so had pics of the bike with tank off and the air box was up ontop of the frame which is what lead me to belive it was a 1VJ, the style that was on my bike is the one in the picture attatched...

ah so that would fit? i was unsure as to how much the engines changed between 92 and 2001 and if the parts were interchangable :/?

Well that`s the cover in the example pic you posted, why post a picture of your actual cover to be sure.
