Hi everyone

Could you look at this photo and tell me if every thing is in the right place. The bearing on the brake side on the rear wheel has fallen apart three times over the past 4 months. I replaced the original ones only because there was 50000kms on them. At first I thought the bearing were faulty.

The arrow shows where the problem bearing should be. I have just noticed the hub dust cover is missing from the right hand (brake) side. Could this alone be the problem. The arrow shows where the problem bearing should be with oil seal beside it.

Thanks
Ronan

You need to check the dust cover first, maybe when you thighten up you are given pressureon the inner ring of bearing. When all parts are replaced its not suppose to be any problems when using correct torque. Its easy to damage bearing if you dont have correct distance to the spacer between them also. There is not suppose to be any pressure against the spacer from any side.

hi is the bearing and spacer in the sprocket carrier ok ,have a look at the parts list on here ,Yamaha Online Parts Catalogue ,steve

The spacer beside the bearing on the left sits beside this bearing inside the sprocket carrier. The sprocket carrier bearing is OK. I thought all the spacers and bearings tightened all together all touching each other. Does the bearing spacer which fits inside the wheel not prevent the bearings warping when you tighten everything up.

Havent seen your hub or what it looks like, but i know its possible on the XT to press bearing to far in and then get pressure against inner ring on bearing. Spacer is just touching bearing no pressure.

Just checked again the spacer that goes between the bearings and it does touch each bearing. No wiser now to my problem. Ill get a new dust cover and geuine bearings. They are €58 on MSP. €17 in town for the ones that fall apart.

Yes its the only good reason i can think off, buy new dust cover and try. Use correct torque.
