women offroad

hello ladys!!

As I am travelling with my boyfriend since 5 weeks through eastern-europe we already hat the chance to ride some nice offroad streets.

I drive motorbike since 6 years, but before that tour never really offroad.
My bike is a travel-friendly suzuki freewind 650.

First I was a little tense on non paved roads. Just a little time later its total fun!

But nevertheless I wonder how many women here drove all kind of roads?:scooter:

And how do you feel on your bike on big rocks? I must admit that on big bumps and rocks I am always a little worried about tipping over.

Do you have much of extra-weight on your motocycles? Or does your partner take most of the equipment?
I mean, how do you do it and feel about handle bikes about 220 kg plus equipment about 40 kilos?

So far i think i handled it good, but our tour is just at the beginning :D
in september we have a container to chile to explore southamerika wuhuuu.

there will be mud, sand, rocks..... uiuiui :cool4::cool4:

cant wait for it- hope all works fine

greetings from transylvania, today going to the maramures!!

off road

few of my friend ride and travel off road and the do pretty well even with a loaded bike , the only problem is that most of dual sport bike are top heavy and have high clearance so if you have short leg its more difficult. One of my good friend actually ride a loaded GS in road that will scare many men , she did some training with BMW off road classes and learned a lot. My advice is get good dual sport tire and take some time to traine yourself on riding off road. some MX tracks will give inexpensive classes so you can learn to get some basic view of riding off road without taking the risk of hurting your bike

Off-Road Riding

Hi Inaa
It's great to hear that you're having such a great time. Yes, I ride a big bike (230Kg BEFORE luggage and fuel) fully loaded and often with a passenger on the back as well.
Maybe not the best scenario for a female rider, but sometimes the most interesting places in the world just seem to run out of roads and it's a case of grit my teeth, keep the revs up and remind my friend on the back to hold on tight.
My riding has HAD to develop over the years, so that I can tackle the difficult terrain. And yes, it is still scary!

Good luck:D

riding off road

In the USA we have classes to learn dirt bike riding , they go for about $150 a day ( that is including bike and gear) and then trail riding for the same price , a very good option at low cost including a bike that you are not afraid to break . A good friend of mine did the BMW classes and loved it but it way more $$.

Hi Inaa,

I have ridden some off-road. The longest was the 500km stretch in the Central Andes of Peru, from Huancayo to Abancay. It was for sure beautiful! There is something about the dirt roads... I always feel so connected with nature and with myself...

Have a great time in South America! Let's go for a bier when you get to Buenos Aires.

Off road

Hi Ina,

I have gone with my husband on a 4month off road trip from Belgium to Mongolia and down to Kyrgyzstan. I drove a Suzuki DRZ 400, so a very light but veeeery high bike. I would opt for a lower but heavier bike now, but on most of our trip I was glad I had such a light bike. It depends on how comfortable you feel when you are driving off road. I must admit that I had shaking knees most of the time, but hey I mannaged in the end...:D
It is true that some of the most spectacular places in the world are not reachable if you do not go off road, but you have to drive the speed that you feel comfortable with and don't try to follow someone else if they drive too fast because then you will make mistakes and fall flat on your face... Been there done that, even got the picture :scooter:
Just enjoy every day that you are on your bike! I have found out (after a lot of trips) that I prefer to ride pillion instead of driving myself, but I am still proud of all the adventures I went on and I saw the most spectacular places while driving off road!

thanks girls

wow, thanks for so many answers!

Time went by very fast an so i am sitting at the eastcoast of argentina. So far our trip just went fine. no big accidents, just some fall-overs.

riding gravel roads is really fun. while driving i feel mostly secure and good because the speed manages the weight :) I have more problems with the weight while driving slow threw high amounts of bigger gravel or sand. i fell a fiew times almost standing when reducing the speed in little bit of panic :) now i worked out that its better to hold the speed, although sometimes thats a little challenging.
but in my opionion i am doing well. we drove lots of kilometers (more than 1000) offroad and had fun!!

greetings from puerto madryn!!
