hiding cash - Tip

During my trip I used to hide a bit of cash inside those individually wrapped sanitary towels. You can buy those everywhere in South America. I kept a pack of those towels on a transparent bag, to make it obvious what it was!
I can't imagine any thief would ever open one of those towels! hehe!

Maybe...

Unless, they're wrapped in the candy bright, stripey colours we get around here - in which case you will get kids mistaking them for yummy sweeties - and scoring a year's worth of pocket money instead!

good idea! Also bra's that have the pocket for padded inserts (LaSenza's basics range), money cards and allsorts can be hidden in these, and it's really secure, that an no-ones gonna think about there or ask you to remove it to check.

between tyre and tube......

I found a bra full of cash would always chaf :smartass:......

Anyway, loads of places to stash cash on a bike..

Obviously, always put it in waterproof bags..

Behind the battery, behind the airfilter, rolled up in the frame on tubular bikes, under the seat..

I have enough trouble explaining why I'm wearing opera gloves (silk, elbow length = very cosy) without a bra full of cash and female hygiene products. If they find me wearing tights too (also for warmth, they are supermarket jobs, not something lacy from the naughty knickers shop) the mugshots won't be pretty

I worry that cash stashed in ordinary gear will get lost. I'd be pretty annoyed if I got a few quid through borders and thieves only to have it drop out when I accidentally opened something. I prefer to simply bury a credit card or some dosh as deep as possible in the battery compartment or similar.

The big tip to me is to split it up. Oh, and be careful with credit cards, in Europe the chips are pretty indestructable and in North Africa a fair few places still use the old ink roller machines, but a card with the magnetic strip wrecked by the battery and signature worn off by a thousand miles inside the airfilter is a scraper not currency.

Hi, cross dressing bikers should have the border guards bringing out the rubber gloves.
i hide cards and money in a pocket sewn into my bike trousers below the boot top; also i use the toolkit pouch under the locking seat. Andy

also... if you wear bike gear which has armour fitted, they're usually fitted by velcro inserts. They're easily accessible to you but not an obvious place to search or grab money from - particularly the elbow or knee inserts.

blowing a tyre = blowing your money :D

and remember to take all the money from the bike before you take it to the shops for repair or maintenance...

In your helmet linear and face gaurd :thumbup1:

you could always add a tampon and an unwrapped liner to the top of the bag to make it look less like candy. We hide some cash in our emergency kit....you might need it in an emergency...:)

palica 1 Feb 2011 12:12

No cash hidden on the bike for me. If the bike is stolen (or if you have an accident), this is when you need cash... :(

In the helmet liner is a good idea, hidden pocket on jacket too, hidden in the armor of the jacket or pant is a great place.

Gold watch, Pulp Fiction. :innocent:

If, for some reason, you are against that solution, the armour pockets in MC clothing...

I always though about carrying a couple gold coins for the just in case scenarios.

French rooster bullion
1/5 oz of gold and very easy to hide

Or if you wanted to carry some real money $1400oz approx, they come in 1oz bars

I'm pretty sure that I would take these if I was a thief....
