Xtz750

Hello travelers, i now own a xt660z, great bike for riding solo, but really too under powered for 2 up long distance traveling in my experience. I think we need something a little bigger, i really like the xtz750, its cheap and it has all we need, i hate all these electronics that modern bikes have, ok, efi would be nice. But these bikes are almost 30 years old, If i get a good one with around 30000km, will it be trust worthy on a 15000km trip im planning for next year? Will i have too replace half of the parts on the bike because of its age, to make it reliable? How is this bike on high altitudes? Fuel consumption? Or will i have to dig deeper in the wallet for a 1200z?doh Thanks for your oppinions. :thumbup1:

I have no experience of the bike itself but given any older bike I'd be going over it and replacing much of the consumables and critical parts prior to a long trip. This includes things like fork seals, wheel bearings, chain and sprockets, maybe even engine oil seals or other known failure points. Proper prep is more important than parts availability IMO. That said, such prep is s great way to get to know your bike which will stand you in good stead if you have problems on the road.
