whick bike between 110 and 250 cc
 

Which bike for tall people between 110 cc and 250 cc that is cheap, get over 50 mpg. Top speed 55 mph or 85K for everyone else. I ve got all the time in the world left and no where to worry about getting back to. Endro, scooter.

it has been make for ages, 250cc twin cilinder, it's a honda so it just keeps running..:scooter:

Honda Baja? Alternatively the Honda XR250 (a bit taller if I remember correctly).

If you've got a little more cash, maybe the Yamaha WR250 - a lot of power in that package.

Hey, I would recommend the Honda Cg125. I'm only 6 foot, not sure how much taller you are, but it's not a nightmare for me, and that is two up.

We manage around 70k an hour normally, so I am sure you could do 80 as a singly. We get 100mpg, and repair costs are cheap. In Syria we paid around a tenner for new shoes front and rear, sprockets, and a head bearing.

We have an 82 model, which has done around 5000 miles on this trip, and been wonderful.

This is the same bike that Simon Gandolfi old man on a bike
used for an epic up and down trip of the Americas, in the South American guise of Honda Cargo125. Apart from accident damage, it required no work in about 45,000km (from memory).

The Yamaha XT225/250 and their derivatives are bikes well worth putting on your short list too.

Honda xlr125 I use for work does an easy 55mph and returns 93mpg (uk)
Yamaha ybr 125 can also do an easy 55mph and that returned 97mpg(fuel injected model) but from what I read, ridden sensibly can achieve upto 136 mpg.

consider your travel insurance
 

Something to bare in mind when choosing a bike might be the cost of your travel insurance which will probably rocket if you are riding a bike above 125cc, do not forget to mention the exact size of your bike when taking out medical insurance, I asked for cover on a "large" motorcycle, I was riding an 800cc BMW, and was later told I was not covered as I had not declared this fact. Incidently sta will not cover people riding bikes over 125cc although they will quite happily sell it to you.

Only thing is, they don't despite plenty of images on the web, make a luggage rack for it.

250cc
 

IMO the 250cc option is better as it will just have a little more power and speed than the 125cc bikes do. You will really appreciate this when driving uphill and freeway driving. Especially when trucks are on your tail.
The taller you are the more you will weigh, add the travel gear. A 125cc has limited horses to lug the weight around. I have a 125cc bike at the moment and it is really dangerous when on the freeway at slower than avergae speeds.
Having said all this any size bike will do the job at the end of the day.

We have a honda cbf 250 and I am 5,11 no problem with size - ecellent fuel economy and reasonable power - the yamaha serow could also be a good choice - better for tracks and off road

I've got a WR250R which I'm taking to Russia next year. They're not a) cheap or b) as good mpg as the chinese bikes but they are c)more powerful and d) better built. I'll stop there before e) and f) arrive..:(
