which bike

Firstly congrats on great website, lots of useful stuff, After a trip to Asia and touring on a Honda ac-1 250 for a couple of days, It brought back all the great memories of riding dirt bikes as a kid, so I'm doing the licence thing and want some help on which bike!!! Would like to do overlanding and commuting to work, especially as I live in Switzerland at the moment good access to Europe, I had in mind either XR400 or XR600/XT600E, bearing in mind I am 5-10" and 72kg, which would you reccomend, Thanks in advance.

I guess the choice depents greatly on the use. Do you want do drive "off road" a lot in really muddy and rough place's, not taking to much lugage... I would go for the 400. But... if you want to go on longer travels, taking a lot of stuff, driving mostly (dirt)road... I would choose the 600.
If you are not sure, or want to do both... hmmm, then maybe the 600 is the better choice.
But.. agian.. much depends on the use...

Hope it helps a bit.

Thankyou Marteen,
After all that, I brought a Yam xtz660, a perfect 1993 in black, bog standard from Switzerland with 10500 genuine miles and with all restrictors still fitted (never thrashed) for the price I could not turn it down, only time will tell whether the bike is suitable for me, a quick drive down to Spain should sort that!
