I was in Hanoi a couple of months ago and met a guy who had bought a 4 stroke 125-150cc Korean bike in Ho Chi Minh for 400USD and ridden it up. He was in a big rush to sell and accepted 200USD for it from one of the guys at Sinh Cafe on the lake in Hanoi. He had a great time by the way. I expect these people or anyone in the many bars and cafes could find you a bike.

I dont think you would have much trouble getting yourself a cheapie...I rented a Minsk once for a few days near Hoi An ( highly recommended), but would prefer anything else, it was unreliable even for that period.

Lots of Honda Cubs and later chinese scooters about.

Hi,

You will find most opportunities in Hanoi through M. CUONG, Minsk expert @ the following adress: 1 Luong Ngoc Quyen Street (in the hart of the old city). He might be willing to sell one. Unlike the previous testimony (which is fair enough!) I would go for a Minsk having myself travelled from Hanoi to Paris with that bike. If pretty unrialable it can also be repaired within a couple of minutes at low cost everywhere in the country (especially in the north which is much more worth travelling than the south). Just bring a hammer and good boots in case you don't find anyone. It also works pretty well! Have a nice trip -
