hope this helps.

Plus One on Vstrom DL650. The F800GS BMW is a wonderful bike, but not light. Although riding it, it felt very light.

True, measured WET WEIGHTS (fuel tank full) :

BMW F800GS : 490 lbs. (222 kgs.) (ABS, Center stand, No Luggage)

Suzuki DL650 Vstrom : 470 lbs. (213 kgs.) No luggage, no center stand)

Got to agree ....

.... with "Tedmagnum" and "Warthup"!

The Honda TransAlp is a nice bike, also for 2 up.

I own the older model with 400ccm built for the Japanese market (similar to the PD06). It took my girlfriend and me to Hokkaido last year (roughly 3.500 kilometers) and it was no problem. Had paniers (Hepco&Becker Junior) for all our stuff, including sleeping bags, tent and all the other little things you need for 2 weeks "out in the wild". The lady never complained about "sitting problems" - sure we also took it easy.

I can only recommend the bike!

Hi iv got a r850r and two up its perfect for us, not to heavy, nice seat height nowhere near as high as a gs ,economical and so far reliable the r1150r is more common but same dry weight and low milage ones on flea bay are pretty cheap iv fitted avon distanzia tyres and on gravel it seems ok. not been in any deep stuff yet so dont know how 17" front wheel will cope but overall easy to live with .Rob
