Same bike for two very different people
Hi all
I am looking to do alaksa to TDF, and i have always said that if i did it with someone else the ideal thing would be to both have the same bike. Unfortunately the person that i would like to do the trip on is 5 foot 3 and i am 6 foot 1. I have been trying to find a bike that would suit us both but i am failing! Currently i have a wee strom that i am very happy with but i can't see her getting on it! Any help would be greatly recieved! Cheers J |
Seems to me...
Seems to me that you are limited to the size of bike that your riding partner will be able to overcome. Being that she is 5'3", it seems that it will be quite difficult for her to get on a larger bike.
Is she an accomplished rider? If she is, then you might think about lowering a Yamaha WR250R and letting her try that, while you could ride the standard height? My friends father 5'7" rides a lowered version. Also, possibly the Yamaha TT225. A bit small for you, but not impossible, and is about the right size for her. The basic idea that I have formed, is that you will have to resign yourself to riding a smaller bike than you had originally planned. No matter your height is, her height 5'3" is quite limiting. I, and two friends have the same idea of completing an RTW while riding the same bikes. However, I am 6'6", he is 6'2" and she is 5'9"... In our case, she'll have to step up :) --Alex |
If you've got the cash: F650GS for her (already low and can be lowered more) and F800GS for you (talking about the new 2cyl ones). They are essentially the same bike ...
