It has arrived, for sure (to quote Rossi) - no more rumours.

A colour scheme for sure. But a nice one... If BMW plays this right, they'll make this the new Africa Twin...

Milan show.........

....has lots of new bike releases. Apart from the 800GS, BMW have the reinvigorated 1200GS: Milan Show: BMW overhauls R1200GS for 2008 - Motorcycle News - MCN

which has not changed in the plastics as much as had been rumoured, but it does have some fancy bits for the suspension adjustment.

Honda: they have a few new scooters to sell to you and similar bits and pieces. They are at pains to add that their design studio in Italy has been busy on the case - just letting you know this in case anyone else is tempted to watch the video download that can be found in the UK MCN website - don't bother and save yourself 20 minutes!!!:rolleyes2:
ps Honda display their bikes as models paraded on a catwalk!

Bike show - UK NEC

Apart from all of the big stands showing the latest Tenere/800GS/650GS etc, there was this in the RE area:-

Royal Enfield Woodsman launched - Motorcycle News - MCN

It's a pretty looking bike, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. :thumbup1:

Here's the bigger pic, that shows more clearly the high exhaust system, the rack and the bash plate:

Looks like it's not dead after acquiring Husqvarna, looks like they still want to continue the development of EFI 450cc single offroader, maybe with some co-operation with Husqvarna now?

Margus,

It is at the current show in the UK and available to buy from mid-2008.

Nec

NEC show was a vast improvement on last year. I really liked the 800 gs. But the new Tenere ticked all the boxes and Yamaha Staff claim a sub 5k price so wait and see there. Another bike that impressed me was the new Kawasaki Ninja 250. Looks just like a full on sports bike but I jumped on and was most impressed by how comfortable it felt. It has much higher bars than a sports bike and the staff rekon on around 3k so it could be a great little bargain. Travel dri had a stand and I treated myself to a new towel Paramo and a spork.

Did anyone else notice how cheap the panniers and top box on the teneres were made. The top box was already broken and apperared to be made of some sort of compesite plastic. Take note if you are after a tenere spend your extra cash on some mules who also had a great stand at the show.:scooter::cool4:

The luggage on the tenere was locked when I was there but it did look cheaply made and not too strong.

List price is around £4900 but there are loads of accessories that could easily raise this price!

Also seen there was this Triumph in moody black and much better exhausts (Arrow) than the usual Triumph scrambler offering:-

Ride like Mc Queen

Yeah Walkabout I nearly forgot about the Triumph what a sweet bike they should bring that out in their lineup. I hate to think how much the accerssories would raise the price.

Yamaha Super Tenere for 2009 etc etc

There is a big (as in it covers a large print area) story in the UK MCN published today - they have a pretty good record of getting their predictions of new bikes right.

Yam are expected to produce a Super Tenere with a parallel twin 1200cc engine for 2009 - the engine is thought to be new and not "related" to the TDM 900 engine.
Alledgedly, this bike is being tested in Europe, working out of the Yam facility in Italy, right now.

Not content with this story, they also forecast that Triumph, KTM and Aprilia all have large capacity adventure bikes in the pipeline for 2009; all of these are well over 1000cc engine capacity - even the Triumph is expected to get a bigger engine than the current 1050cc.

Not for the first time, they question what Honda will do about this, especially regarding the ageing Varadero 1000cc.

Its all a pretty obvious follow on from the smaller capacity offerings, but where is the KTM 690 Adv and the Triumph Tiger Cub in this?
