Lol i have for some time felt and agreed with Grant Johnson that any bike is sutable for rtw.
It just depends on the type of roads you ride on lol I think imho any sized bike up to 650 would be big enough and able to carry enough. Im quite glad that bike manifacturers are brining out 250 350 and 400 cc bikes. Im old enough to remember cd175 and the bike where of a size to sute most. I like the look of the crf250L unfortunaly too tall for me. Wouldnlove to see Yam bring in to uk there 250 teneri that has been used quite a bit in brazil and that part of america. I am from Germany and I bought a klx 250 for a rtw trip. Honestly I should have taken the CRF250L, because the klx 250 aftermarket is really small. I got all things by shipping round the globe. The CRF aftermarket especially in UK is bigger as far as I know. Just my 2cents :cool4: |

I got everything I needed, but if you order from US as a European, you always have to pay shipment and tax, which is a huge amount of money. Well, it is a one time invest, so its ok :thumbup1: All in all, I love the bike! Light and easy to fix. :D And I hope, it was the right decision for the rtw trip ;) Thanks for your reply, mate :) |

I am now the proud owner of a brand new CRF250L.... Well I pick it up this week hopefully. I got it with the street legal FMF exhaust and plan to do some of the common mods. Maybe even the Rally Raid fairing mod. https://www.crf250l.org/forums/threa...g-bore.100810/ This guy has worked wonders on his crf! So now I'm going to do a few trips to Scotland this year and learn the ropes, before I start planning for my Mongolia trip this time next year... Looks like it's all starting to become more than a dream now, scary. I also treated myself to a Garmin Montana 600, Not a straight forward bit of kit by any means and horrendously slow to browse maps on but It is really making me feel like it will get me to Mongolia and back. Along with my CRF of course. So thanks again guys |
