CB125e or ct110

Hi guys,
it's my first post here and would like to see your opinions on these two bikes. I plan to ride from Melbourne to Turkey on one of these bikes. I know they aren't very fast but I'm ok with that. My only worry is highway riding with the road trains haha. Anyway inspiration for the trip comes from Nathan the postman who rode from Sydney to London on a ct110 so I know that it can be done on one. I just wanted to weigh up the pros and cons of a ct110 vs a cb125e both single cylinder relatively cheap to run machines. Any input would be appreciated including similar bike suggestions. Thanks

Welcome to the HUBB :)

The extra 15cc wont make much difference, the CB may be a bit more comfortable and modern, but for pure shits and giggles Id take the Postie bike ;)

I had to Google CB125E and the bike that came up looks pretty much like the Honda CBZ Xtreme I used in India earlier this year and that was a pretty good and comfortable bike which gets my vote, it depends on whether you want quirkiness or practicality. I would also check out the Honda CG125 and XR125L both of which have the same bulletproof pushrod engine, I know the XR is quite comfortable for such a small bike.
And welcome to the forum.

Both bikes are reliable. Between these two I'd chose the 125 simply because it's slightly larger and more of a proper motorcycle - but that's just my prejudice. Try sitting on both and see which feels better.

Which has further fuel range? The 110 is almost certainly cheaper on fuel, but has a smaller tank....

Sounds like something I'd like to do! Let us know how you move along with this project!

yeah you can install an extra fuel tank on the ct110-i think they use old xr250 tanks- to get like 500kms range which i think is pretty good. however that would mean extra work prepping the bike when the cb125e already has a decent fuel capacity. I don't plan on going off road into isolated areas anyway so fuel shouldn't be too hard to find. Also I'm thinking the ct110 might be easier and cheaper to ship. Thanks for all the advice

Shipping cost tend to be by volume not weight .. so both bikes will be about the same.
Carnet cost will be by bike value...
etc...

There won't be much in the overall cost differences. Get the one you are most comfortable on, secondary would be luggage, third parts availability.

Whatever you chose ..it will be fun.

The CB125E seems to have a CV carb. This will handle altitude changes better than the normal carb on the CT110. Fuel injection would be ideal to avoid re-jetting if you are aiming to do the worlds highest roads ~4500 metres. An inmate here raved about how much better a YBR125 was than an XR125 for use in South America simply because the fuel injection could handle the altitude changes better. The CB125E has a 5 speed box too which might be better for tackling hills.
