Budget bigger bike advice

Hey,
So I'm on the lookout for a bike to ride in the UK, mainly on roads.
I've got an old XT225 Serow and love it, and am very happy to ride it just about anywhere it can go (just ridden 40000km in Africa), but it's all I've ever ridden and I'm after something with a bit more 'go' for riding on the UK's main roads (as well as country lanes!), at least until I get my Serow back to the UK (it's in storage in Europe now).
Any recommendations for something that won't break the budget (£2000 max, preferably less) and would suit a short-legged lady. I want something fun and manageable and a comfy ride - definitely not a sports bike.
I just need a few names of bikes to start looking at, it's all a bit bewildering searching on eBay for anything in 400-650cc range (if that's even what I should be looking for)! Unless you have something suitable for sale...
Thanks!

Take a look at v-strom 650, CB500X, MT-07, XT660Z, NC750X, Versys 650 just to name a few.

You can rule out most of the above on price. you will get a xt600e or an early model xt660r which you could lower

For a low seat height look at the cruiser (I hate that term) style of bike. You won't get the original and genuine (H-D) but Kawasaki and Suzuki do 800/900 cc models that have been around long enough to have come into your price range.

Honda CBF500......not tall, reliable as night following day, good handling ( I had my knee down on one) and cheap to buy & run. A thousand couriers can't be wrong.
