BMW Damar 650 GS

Im about 165cm, and own a Suzuki DR 650 and a Yamaha WR 250r and have managed to lower these to a useful height thats suits me.
However I have a BMW Dakar 650 waiting for me in the UK for my europe-central asia-mongolia-siberia trip, and although i have been assured by BMW dealers that I will be able to lower it to suit me I am having doubts. I will be doing all the usual to lower it- lowering links, the triple clamps and a bit of suspension and will get the seat chopped.
Any opinions?

Hi Guys
The 310 is not at all a travelers bike so scrap that idea. My favorite is the Sertao 650 or the Dakar. If you can get a KLR also good. Have done 110000 km of traveling in Zambia Namibia Mozambique and South Africa. Used it daily and long distance traveling. Have done sprocket changes for 30 km to a liter and doing 380 to 420 km on 14/5 liter tank. And top speed of 180 km/h. That is with my normal load/luggage use a flying brick and wife is using the same bike when we travel. She has done 75000 km. The seats are good and well balanced. Don't know BM go the idea to stop manufacturing the bike will purchase one today if they came available. The new 750/850 is back on to heavy side the Sertao is 170 with 21 wheel at front. Excellent for gravel roads. :scooter::Dbier We had also a lady who has done the round trip of Africa 46000 km on a 650.
That's only my small opinion on these bikes for long distance. So the motto is 650/660 similar bike for touring specially if you think of long distance. Reason light with luggage on all roads even ladies can handle it.:D:D
