Bike Selection

I have read some of the bike queries on this page. I am still a little lost.

I am planning to go from the UK to Aust and was wondering what was a reasonably priced and reliable machine to do it.

I have been told the Triumph Tiger is the dux nuts, but they are bloody expensive. Any advice would be great.

You can ride around the world on anything - a couple years ago I read about an English guy riding around the world on a Honda C90 Cub...

Get a motorcycle that is very simple mechanically speaking. The Tiger is a good bike, but may not be as easy to get parts for as, say, a Honda when you're stuck in the middle of nowhere. Personally I'd get a Japanese 650 single if I were riding solo, say a KLR650 or an XT600.

Thanks for the info Bruce.

Since posting the message I have heard the same sort of information, some suggest the KTM Adventure. Think now it is just a matter of getting out and riding them to make the final decision
