Any info on Rotax engined bikes, CCM 604?
 

Another potential CCM rider!
Does anyone have any experience of Rotax engines being used for long distance trips. I'm looking at buying two CCM 604s to go from the far east to the UK.
Other options are Yamaha TTR 600 but i do fancy using the Bolton bruisers.

I don't have any experience with Rotax engined bikes on long trips, but since no one else has replied to your question I'll make a comment or two.

My sole experience on Rotax engined bikes has been on a singles class road racing machine back in the 1980s (powerful, reliable, vibrated), and one brief ride on a CCM here in the States, so I can't comment directly on these engines suitability for long distance trips.

In general, I believe Rotax engines have an excellent reputation for reliability in the US, although there aren't many bikes here powered by these engines. The Ski-Doo line of snowmobiles uses Rotax engines and they've been the largest selling brand in the US for the past few years. I've not heard, or read in the snowmobiling press, any complaints about reliability. Everything I've ever heard about Rotax motors has been positive.

I really like the new CCMs, don't know much about the older Rotax powered ones, but Simon Milward was using a Rotax engine in his custom. He swapped it for a new one (also Rotax) at 85k miles in the States. i understand that some microlight aircraft companies use rotax!

the older/and new bmw f650 is a rotax.
